Smooth transport logistics not without challenges: supplying Phänomena 2026
Extensive special material from China and Europe was needed for the Phänomena exhibition, which started in mid-March. Back in October 2025, Planzer Synergistics was awarded the contract to transport an entire tent and many other components to Dietikon on schedule.
A clear time frame was defined for the project: all shipments needed to arrive in Dietikon by mid-January 2026 to ensure that the exhibition could be set up in time. These specifications could only be met under optimum transport conditions. The organisers’ determination paid off and, despite the tight schedule, all deliveries were completed on time.
Four sea freight containers on two shipping routes
A total of four containers were shipped from different regions of China: two 40-foot open-top containers from Jiangmen (Guangdong) and two 40-foot high-cube containers from Guangzhou. These were shipped via Yantian Port on various vessels bound for Rotterdam.
There, poor weather conditions and a staff strike led to delays and presented particular challenges when the containers were collected. Nevertheless, the containers were successfully transported by rail to Basel and then forwarded by truck to Dietikon on time and on schedule. Unloading at the construction site took place on the day of delivery in each case. Despite delays in Rotterdam, the project and on-site set-up were successfully completed with minimal loss of time.
Supplementary air freight
An additional shipment of 2.3 tonnes from Zhongshan City was dispatched by air freight via Shenzhen Bao’an Airport on 20 January 2026 and successfully delivered on time to Dietikon on 27 January 2026.
Complete transport organisation
Planzer Synergistics handled all steps of the project’s execution, from international scheduling, sea freight, rail connections and even air freight through to customs clearance. In total, more than 36 tonnes of material with an overall volume of 25,897 m³ were transported.
Successful start to Phänomena on 14 March 2026
The hard work and dedication paid off for all sides. The Phänomena 2026 exhibition opened as planned on 14 March 2026. Even President of the Swiss Confederation Guy Parmelin paid a visit to the opening ceremony. The infrastructure – incidentally, the largest mobile inflatable tent in the world – will remain in place in Dietikon until mid-June. After that, the exhibition is set to tour other locations across Switzerland.
